Representative Office in Karlsruhe (Germany)

The University of Karlsruhe and Tomsk Polytechnic University have established cooperation in science and education since 1990 through:

  • mutual research projects in the field of Electric Power Systems and High Voltage Technology;
  • scientists exchange within the framework of paper presentations, symposia, and guest professors;
  • students exchange and scholarships;
  • excursions support;
  • EU joint projects in the field of management.
To ensure successful cooperation, Tomsk Polytechnic University and the University of Karlsruhe have signed a cooperation agreement and established the representative offices.

Both universities agreed on using the experience of successful teaching for exchange students to work out professional and formal terms of diplomas issuing that would confirm curriculum accomplishment of both universities signed the agreement.

Goals of the Representative Offices
The main goals of the representative offices are as follows:

  • stimulation of joint research projects, scientific symposia, congresses, and other projects with participation of both universities; projects assistance and support on the stage of their planning and implementation, participation in their perspective evaluation;
  • advertising of students and scientists exchange, assistance in their increasing; ensuring advisory services and support in organizing exchanges;
  • ensuring the financing of students and scientists exchange at the Universities expense or by obtaining scholarships, sponsor support, and economic contracts;
  • ensuring the high level of proficiency of exchange students and scientists to possess sufficient professional and personal qualifications for the exchange objectives to be pursued;
  • consulting and support for the exchange students and scientists.

The students and scientists sent to the partner-university under the agreement maintain the status of the member of their university.

On admission to the host university, students and scientists (on signing the contract of the guest scientist) become at same time the members of the host university in accordance with the regulations in force.
